Windows XP Won't install

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I bought an HP Pavilion DV5T laptop. It's good performance and came with Vista Home Premium.

After buying the computer I immedietly formatted the hard drive and tried to install Windows XP x64. Setup loaded the files, but bluescreened before getting to the first prompt. I tried 2 different Windows XP 32 bit cd's and the same thing happened.

Right now I'm dual booting Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 beta but I have really just wanted XP on this computer. It still bluescreens when I try to install.

I consider myself to be an advanced computer user; I've installed XP onto no less than 200 computers and I've never had this problem. What do you think could be wrong?

It probably has a SATA AHCI Controller which you need a driver for, XP doesn't come with it so you need to slipstream it into your XP install media. Google for a nLite - it will allow you to slipstream whatever you want.

EDIT: quick googling came up with this :http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2101&DwnldID=16013&lang=eng
