brambell Posted February 1, 2009 Report Share Posted February 1, 2009 Evening all.Today I did a full scan on my computer, using Mcafee, no issues there, then I scanned the the computer using SuperAntispy software, also no issues. I also use CCleaner every time I shut down the computer. Because I found nothing to worry about, I backup to my external hard drive.This afternoon, I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software and then I did a full scan using this new software. To my surprise, it found 3 trojans, and it then it quarantined the trojans. It asked me to restart the computer to get rid of them, which I did.My question to you, because I backed up to an external hard drive, does this mean that the external hard drive has these trojans in it? brambell Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 Hi andsome, Do you know any other good malware software that you trust.The reason I say trust, is because I recently I downloaded Spy-doctor to the computer and it played havoc with the computer, I uninstalled the program and it has settled down, to how it should be.Can any software cause the computer to act irregular?Many thanks. And that even applies to Microsoft updates, let alone 3rd party software. That's why when installing new software it's always it's always best to (A) make a Restore Point before the installation; (B) install only one item of new software at a time (though this is rather impractical for MS updates), then run your most common applications to check that they are running smoothly. Only when you are satisfied, install the next item of software. If you install a whole bunch one after the other and then your machine fouls up, you won't know which one caused the problem.Also remember that what runs fine with my setup may not work smoothly with yours, and vice-versa (this is partly due to differences in individual computer configurations). I don't insttall the tea timer optionThis one sits on the computer and helps stop Malware downloading.
