From memory, this is something to do with NVidea drivers and Macrovision copy protection when, some time ago, Macrovision insisted that a blocker be put on graphics card software to prevent an output to a television. This didn't work properly so you have your current situation.

Sorry that you've had such a seemingly inauspicious start here.

Not sure what you can do because there is no real "fault" as such. There is an extensive discussion here http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=24370 about it.

The real answer is not to use your computer for playing commercial (copy protected) DVDs.
