Creating a temporary parition

I was wondering...

What I want to do is set up something so that when someone logs in as any user other than an Administrator, anything they save, download, store or anything to the hard drive it will save to a temporary partition which after logging off the data saved will be erased..

Does anyone know how to do this?

It doesn't matter on the OS. I'd like this on either XP, Vista or Ubuntu.

One way to set up a "disappearing" partition which starts when you boot and goes when you turn the PC off is by use of a RAM disk.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM_disk

There is also a long thread about this on W/F that I initiated about 5-6 years ago.

I am not sure though how you would apply this as you intend, unless you pointed the temporary users Documents and Settings at the RAM drive.

That's a good idea but wouldn't the loading of everything from the RAM slow it down more than usual?

I've thought of another way but I don't know how any would go about doing it.

Doing this on the Windows computer:

Can I disable the power buttons on the start menu and instead have a batch file on the desktop.

Disable allowance of anyone saving to the C: partition.

Create the "temp" partition which is readable to can be written to by when using the main partition. (like a normal folder)

Then, just before turning off the computer the batch file will delete everything off the temp partition.

I'll try it on my test laptop but I don't know how to set up that "temp" partition, does anyone here?
