Irene
I have a friend who has been experiencing problems with internet/email problems.Several 'identities' are present in her Outlook Express. One 'identity' can send emails without any problems, the other three cannot. I suggested trying something which Pat offered to another thread. i.e Start- Run, type ipconfig /flushdns. This has not solved the problem. Here is a quote of her email following the ipconfig /flushdns action.I can connect to internet, but have a newly created e mail stuck in the outbox. Message comes up saying "you have no internet connection", and yet I must have because I can receive emails and can send others which are replies!! This email will get to you because I am sending via "reply to sender" option.Does anyone have any suggestions as to what she can do to resolve the problem?I just received another email from her. She says...I have just saved the e mail stuck in outbox to '`My Documents`, then selected it from My docs, right clicked, chose to send by e mail, and it appears to have gone! So I must have an internet connection. I do not have an internet providers name on my screen, so it keeps saying 'unable to make a connection`. How do I resolve that?P.S. she is not especially computer literate. :(
andsome
I use Outlook Express. In the past on the odd occasion that I have had a problem, I open Outlook Express, click on Tools /accounts, and remove the offending account. I then re-create it. Sometimes if you look through the account settings, everything looks fine. The new account dos not look to be any different, but for some reason it works. You do of course need to know your password and user name. I always remember mine. I have made a note of two friends settings, and have on the odd occasions recreated their accounts as above. I know that it is permissible to have MORE than one account in Outlook Express, but only tried it once, NEVER AGAIN. :D

Do you have to make a back-up of them first?

Any, such as acknowledgements of orders etc are saved to a memory stick. :D

I exported a backup of my Personal Files & one of just my Contacts, as a safety precaution. When the new installation was complete, I checked Outlook and there everything was... just as I had left it. ;) (hopefully without the problems). I'm not certain whether it was an Outlook, Yahoo or installation issue... all will be revealed in time.

When the new installation was complete, I checked Outlook and there everything was... just as I had left it. ;)Using Export and Import for Outlook PST files is never a good idea, because not all data are exported/imported*. The best is just to make a backup copy of the PST file (while Outlook is closed); this way everything will be preserved, as it happened in your case.*) One of the data I know gets lost during export/import process is the incoming messages' received date/time.
