azgram Posted February 26, 2009 Report Share Posted February 26, 2009 Hello everyone.I am a senior and a computer dummy so I hope someone can help me.I have tried Earthlink my ISP for help and tried finding my problem online butI seem to be the only one having this problem. So now it's your turn.I use IE7, and earthlink totalaccess mailbox for my emails.When I get emails with attachments it says "ATT0009.html but I clic it and I getthe email with a red x in a small box instead of the image.I had several online chats with Norton and they claim it's not a security settingproblem.I receive many emails from friends all over the u.s. and this does not happento everyone.Then...sometimes I get an image in an email but when I forward that imagethe received get the dreded red x. catgate Posted February 26, 2009 Report Share Posted February 26, 2009 You do not say what your OS is, presumably it is XP?If I were in your position I think I would try another Email programme. From where you can download and install it. azgram Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Share Posted February 27, 2009 I have been using Earthlink for email since 1999 and never had problems with these red x's until 2008,something happened.I have read OE has an html setting that needs to be checked. But Earthlink does not have anything like that.Most of the images I don't get say "att0009.html" in the attachment window. But you select it and the textshows up but instead of an image I get a little box with a red x in it. If I check proterties is show type as.....nothing.Also....I think I read IE does not accept .html format??? is that my problem, I use IE7?If I change to OE, how does that work. Can I get rid of Earthlink? how do I access the internet?Too many problems, I'm not sure how computers and the internet work, so I need guidance.Are you saying I could keep everything the way it is, just change my email account and use OE?thanks for all your ideas.
