game developer
Ok, we are game developers and completed a game on XNA and will be released via PC CD. Now a requirement is providing the .net 3.5 redist SP1 and there is two versions. One that connects to internet and downloads that is 2.8MB. But not all our customers who will be installing will be connected to internet. So we got the stand along edition at 238MB. Yet during install it still prompts to download and tries to download the software. How can we avoid .net trying to download and simply install the standalone edition during install that we are providing? Hb_Kai
Is it prompting you to download extra stuff alongside?
catgate
My suggestion would be to find a game developer and ask him/her. They are the sort of people who will have come across this problem.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
What is it trying to download - KB959209 perhaps?
game developer
What is it trying to download - KB959209 perhaps?Correct, but I have already provided the full version (stand alone) on the disk (all 238mb worth) and while executing the .exe of the .net it still trys to download it, but I want someone who does not have internet to be able to install. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
You wrote that it "prompts to download..."; is there a way you can decline the download? I am sure that there are many offline computers that need to install .NET Framework and its service packs and updates, so there must be a way to install it without an Internet connection.Have you tested the install on an offline computer? Also, there may be installer command switches that may alter the installer's behavior.
