I actually don’t know that much about it, but a friend will help me set it up. I heard that it is only good till July? Is this correct? What happens after July, does it stop working? Hb_Kai Posted March 5, 2009 Report Share Posted March 5, 2009 If it's still in it's Beta version, it will expire in July but I thought the Beta stage is now officially over and Microsoft are stopping people from officially downloading it anymore - unless people haven't finished their downloads yet. The product key is valid for thirty days following receipt and if the software does not have at least a first install by that time expiry the key becomes invalid. The software expires at the end of July and must then be removed from your machine and replaced with a later version of Windows 7 (beta 2 or RC1) or an earlier version of Windows such as Vista or XP. If the software is not removed it will just use hard drive space for no purpose.Be careful about installing Windows 7. Don't put it on your prime machine and ensure that you have full backups of your existing system in case something goes wrong - which, with development software such as this, is quite likely. That, after all, is the point of it being issued.My granddaughter's installation has had to be re-done twice due to silly errors which have occurred. You only get a valid product key if you downloaded it from the official Microsoft download, which has closed after 2.5 million downloads.
