Hb_Kai
XP can be either 32 or 64 bit. Depending on which you have.Yes, you can use both at the same time and "dual-boot" the pair. You can either use partitions or seperate hard drives. Partitions are like areas of your hard drive which are used for this type of thing. Vista has its own partition manager so you should be able to make one yourself through it.I'd explain how but it might be best to follow this tutorial I found -http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=155541
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
As Hb_Kai already wrote, you can have more than one OS on the same computer using a boot manager. Windows offers its own boot manager, and it's generally easy to use - if everything is "normal".Normal, in the case of XP and Vista, is that XP is/was installed first, Vista second. When it is done in this manner, the Vista installation will automatically configure the Vista boot manager, and at each startup you can select to boot into XP or Vista. However, when Vista is installed first, and you want to install XP next, configuring the boot manager is a little bit more complicated: you will have to do it by yourself. I haven't done this - I haven't touched Vista, so you will have to google for Vista boot manager info.Or someone else here at the Windows Forum has some experience with the Vista boot manager? Seshomaru Samma
No experience with Vista , I usually wipe it out.But an application called EasyBCD can do it.The steps are :Install XPBoot into XP - install EasyBCD Follow the steps here Thats it. You need to make sure that you have a partition for XP to install to.If your Vista has only one partition then you need to follow this guide
AndyXS
ORYou could install VirtualBox and run 32 bit Windows XP from within Vista
y2khardtop
I think running Xp 32 on top of Vista 64 will not likely solve his peripheral problems, although it would be a great way to run XP if it was simply a software issue. See above for links "Seshomaru Samma" PostHope you do not mind me asking a question, related but not the same OS combination!I note Pat’s suggestion of OS order for this particular arrangement and was interested if there is a preferred order of install using XP and Server 03 on separate disks but the same box!At present XP is installed in my box on IDE and the plan was to put Server on SATA?Seshomaru, I am just about to go and check out your link and just thought to ask if you think this might be the way to go with my project or you have any suggestions. Thanks
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Since Windows Server 2003 is the server version of Windows XP, it will naturally use the XP boot manager. It doesn't matter in what sequence you install them.
