Hi all,

Last night I had to do a full restore on the computer, back to the factory default settings, because it got infected. Eveything went well. It took a long time to get it back to how it should be. One thing that I have noticed is that when I set the screen saver to come on after a few minutes of not being used. Nothing happens. The screen stays on.

I have had a look in the Device manager, and everything is ok there. Is there any way that I can get the screen saver working again.

Also I know that my external hard drive had got infected. I scaned the external hard drive and it showed that it had a trojan in it. I quarantined it and just before I did the restore on the computer, I deleated the trojan from the computer and the external hard drive. Now that I have got the computer back to normal,is it ok to go into the external hard drive and copy and paste all my files back on to the computer. I have alot of photos and music on the external hard drive.

Can I be sure that the trojan has gone from my hard drive?. Because I quarantined it and then deleated the trojan? If the trojan may be still on the hard drive and I know the file that it comes under, can I still copy and paste my music and photos files back on to the computer and not touch the file of the trojan comes under? so not to infect my computer again.

Hope this make sence to you.

Many thanks for taking time to read this.

Darren

For your screensaver brambell, check your screen saver display & time settings: open Control Panel

Hello Hb-Kai and Dencandy,

Thanks for your reply,

Dencardy, I have found what the problems was. I phoned the tech guys at PC World and they asked me what mouse I was using, and told them that I was using a wireless mouse. They told me to try another one and see if there was any change. Used the mouse that came with the computer when I bought it. Then the screen saver worked. I must of forgot to use the software for the wireless mouse.

Hb-Kai. I will rescan the external hard drive today and take it for there.

Many thanks for your help.

Darren.
