New PC

Novatech PC's usually come with a Novatech branded m/b, however everyone knows they just stick their name to it.

(i bought a nvidia graphics card, but it was labeled novatech, £20 cheaper!).

To be honest, self build is not that much cheaper than what you can get at novatech already built. Plus if you buy a system built by them, you will have no problem getting it fixed if it goes wrong.

I built my own, and the m/b packed up, novatech replaced it, but i was 10 days without a computer.

Craig.

forgot to say folks that my PC at the moment is a slow old 700mhz pc running XP

If you decide to chuck it in a skip - please let me know when/where as its 2 years newer than this heap of mine (or I could cannibalise some odds + ends) !

Seriously, that doesn't look a bad deal - couple of friends have bought from them recently and very happy with their buys.

What I did was logon to ebuyer and place an order for all the bita above and goto checkout and see what the final price was, thats how I got my final figures but the figures after the individual items are pre VAT prices.

Oh I missed off modem so add a tenna to the final price.

Does the Novatech PC come with an OS, in the specs it says not.

Looks a fine spec for the money, madboy - but when I clicked on "choose operating system" and selected XP Home it bunged another £80 on the price. And yet at the bottom of the screen it says "Includes Microsoft XP Home Edition Pre-installed". And what monitor would you go for? A TFT perhaps.

Good luck, madboy, with whatever you decide to buy (buying rather than building seems to me to be the better option).

Regards :D

yes but is this not a different system we are talking about.

Here's how activation will work for most users: When you install the operating system, you still need to give it the 25-character CD key that comes on the CD case. But when you fire it up for the first time, you're informed that you must activate the program. The process is quick enough -- 30 seconds via Internet or up to five minutes on the telephone. When you do this, a special activation code is generated that reflects information about the specific hardware on which you've installed the operating system. If you don't activate the product within a given period (14 days, at the moment) after installation, the operating system disables itself.

What is problematic about activation is that it periodically checks your machine's hardware (including the CPU, hard drive and optical drive), and if it sees enough things changed from what it knows about, it figures you may be trying to sneak in an illegal second installation on a different machine -- even if you've just upgraded your machine with a bigger hard drive, more memory or whatever
