Dropbox - sharing files over the Internet

I have recently tested Dropbox, a relatively new file sharing service.

• download and install the Dropbox client
  
• drag and drop any kinds of documents into the Dropbox folders
  
• instantly access your docs on any computer
  
• allows to share single documents with non-Dropbox users
  
• free to use up to 2GB of space
  
• runs on Windows XP and Vista (32 and 64-bit), Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard, as well as Ubuntu 7.10+ and Fedora Core 9+

Looks interesting & seems a bit like Google Cloud (which seems to have been blown away). Pat Willener, how does a user make documents accessible only to certain people? Is there a password system or what? The website intro doesn't make that clear (except for photos).

I have only used it in a limited way, but so far I have seen that

• you upload one or more files into your Public or Photos folder
  
• you can also create your own folders to upload files
  
• you share individual files or entire folders with one or multiple email addresses
  
• these email addresses will be sent invitations with a hyperlink to the file(s) or folder(s)
  
• I haven't seen any addition protection, such as passwords
  

The free space you get is 2GB, and deleted files will still be counted to the 2GB total. So once you have exhausted the 2GB, you will either have to buy more space, or open a new account.
