lafleur1977
HeyCan anybody offer any advice on this scenario please when trying to connect two laptops together."a serial cable which has been adapted from a modem cable, i.e. it has female connectors on both ends."Thanks. Belatucadrus
Considering how low the cost of a crossover cable would be, I'd abandon this adapted cable as a waste of time. The laptops are most likely to have a standard RS232 socket, so you'd probably need two gender changers to plug the cable in, this'll cost more than a new cable. You could also consider a USB transfer cable
homecomputeraid
I agree with Belatucadris. Either an Ethernet crossover cable or a USB cable will be much faster and easier to use than a serial cable. If you must use a serial cable, you'll need a null modem cable or adapter, and you'll have to configure the serial port options identically on both computers.
