Hi folks,

Using Dell Dimension 1100, XP home edition. Had virus. System Restore corrupted. Used original Dell recovery CD to reinstall.

Result - Fatal error - product catalog some files missing. Tried Shift + F10, command line change of catroot2 to catold found on another forum. Same result. Have now tried second Dell CD, same result.

Anyone have a solution to this one? Thanks in advance.

I think it should be Ctrl + F11 that gets you to the recovery partition - see THIS LINK. For my part I would advise everyone to never, ever buy a computer or laptop unless you also get the full installation CD with it. These recovery partitions, etc, are a nightmare for users, introduced, I think, to try to prevent counterfeiting.

I just cannot understand anyone agreeing to buy a computer without a full installation disk. I fully agree to what you say. :D
