AlanHo Posted May 15, 2009 Report Share Posted May 15, 2009 Have you added in the total space occupied by your operating system files - these are not usually identified in the add/delete list because you can't uninstall the OS from there.Furthermore, there is a considerable amount of stuff on your hard drive in addition to your OS, programs, data, pictures, music, videos etc for the computer to run properly.Perhaps as a start you should download and run CCleaner in order to rid your computer of unecessary and temporary files. It is also not difficult to fill one if one indulges in downloading images, videos and music.You really need to do a sort out of that stuff you wish to keep, back that up onto an external storage device and then, as Alanho suggests do a clean up with Crapcleaner. Following that a defrag should leave you with some elbow room. The other matter you need to ponder is should you be installing a larger HD. My suggestion would be keep your existing HD as a "System" drive and put in an addition much larger drive as a "Data" drive. You could then have a much better set up.
