Windows Hangs after startup

Recommended Posts

Windows starts without any problems, yet when my desktop appears, as soon as I try starting any program, Windows just hangs for around 5-6 minutes. The mouse still moves and I can click icons on my desktop, yet no programs open. After about 5 mins all the programs I have attempted to open start and I dont have any problems after that. This happens on every start up, yet has only done it for a few months and it used to be fine. Ive been into MS Config to look at the startup programs and de-selected anything I dont need to open on start up yet this hasnt fixed it.

Any ideas would be a big help

Thanks

Are you letting the computer start up properly? You should really leave it for at least 30 seconds after the desktop loads everything.

Also, is there any problem with the amount of programs that launch on windows startup?

I find that if I try to rush things mine freezes. If I do as suggested and let it settle it runs like lightning. :D
