How to force XP to have mono audio?

Recommended Posts

=I have a 2.1 speaker/subwoofer system, the Right and Left speakers connect to a powered sub, and the sub connects to the sound card (via the typical 3.5mm connector).

One of the the speakers has gone out, so now I only get audio from the left channel. When I play a game or listen to a song that is in stereo, the audio on the right channel is gone. I have gone into control panel and set speaker setup to "Laptop Mono Speaker", but I am still missing audio. For instance, when listening to a song that is in stereo sound, if the singers voice is supposed to come from the right side only, you can't hear him at all. Or when playing a game, if a sound effect is supposed to come out of the right channel, you don't hear the sound.

Any way to force Windows to truly merge the channels, so all audio comes out of the one working speaker and sub?
