Kloppstock Posted July 3, 2009 Report Share Posted July 3, 2009 My first dvd-rom becomed broken this month, i have the chance now to use my secondary dvd insted...but then i must first confront and solve its problem that i have been able to push for the future until nowthe secondary drive is an LG of exact this modelhttp://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Sp...ArticleId=12429Its problem is that it doenst read certain dvd-rw discs even thou it shall and claims it can, it accually have only been able to read dvd-rw disc from the "Verbatin" labelbut it doesnt feel an insertion of "Sony 4.7 Gb" "Imation 4.7 Gb" "Traxdata 4.7 Gb"but it can read all kinds of cd-rw, cd-r, dvd-r from the above labels, but now i happend to have alot of ther above labels in dvd-rw..so either i can now get an instruction how to possible sett this unit so it can start read all dvdrw "types?", or there is no such jumper? and then i must instead buy a new "none LG"(obviosly) driver instead next.The ithing is offcorse thatmy old dvd-rom that dont work longer could read this 3 labels, it could read everything..like normal, by the way i would not classify these dvdmedia labels as lowbudget, so i will not appretiate a "your driver is fine, just buy better discs in the future' answer :thumb up: one silly thaut i have..all this discs have been created in my old burner..perhaps that unit hade some kind of exclusive lock? and it can only be played in its own mark?The unit is patched with its latest firmwareWindows XP SP 3Intel Pentium 3.4 GHzMy Mother: P5WD2 Premium2 Gb ram Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted July 3, 2009 Report Share Posted July 3, 2009 The link you provide is dated February 2005 - a time when DVD writers were much less tolerant about the media they would accept.Even though it might claim that it can read all sorts of media, remember that modern disk types, dye mixes and speeds may not have been around when the claims for the machine were made.
