ladydi Posted July 10, 2009 Report Share Posted July 10, 2009 Upon booting, ok till the windows welcome screen then stops suddenly and my name and icon (guitar) appears. When i click on my name the following message appears: 'loading your personal settings' which last for app. 5 seconds. then suddenly the next message appears "saving your settings".. again for 4-5 seconds. This situation continues until I click the 'Turn off computer". then I restart all over again. I have tried to go into safe mode....(all possibilities) to no avail.jCan someone one help me with my problem.......running XP Professionnel on an IBM machine. this appears to be a sudden and unexplainable occurance.Thank you for your help, DSamson Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dencandy Posted July 10, 2009 Report Share Posted July 10, 2009 If you can't get even get into Safe Mode then either your basic systems are very badly damaged or you have a major hardware fault - such as a damaged hard disk. catgate Posted July 10, 2009 Report Share Posted July 10, 2009 You obviously have internet access from somewhere so I suggest you download (or in some other way get hold of ) a live linux CD, and try booting from that. Hb_Kai Posted July 10, 2009 Report Share Posted July 10, 2009 Ubuntu, being "the easiest for beginners", supposedly, can be download from here:Ubuntu Download PagePut the disc in, boot your computer from the disc, you will sooner or later see a list of options. Pick "Boot from Live CD"Sooner or later your computer will boot into Ubuntu and this will give you the suggestion that Catgate mentioned above. If this doesn't work it's your hardware. If it does, that forum thread I gave gives a download page for an ISO which can be used in a similar way and can scan your computer for viruses.
