I would like to have another partition from which to also run windows vista for use of the internet whilst keeping my main partition for music making. The issue is that my laptop did not come with a vista disc so what is the quickest solution? I have already made the partition, all I need is to put vista on there!! The point is I have no problem with vista, I just need to run the net from another partition...since I have vista installed I was wondering if there was a way to copy it onto my new partition thus giving me two to boot from. Hb_Kai Posted July 14, 2009 Report Share Posted July 14, 2009 Make an image of your first Vista partition and install it to the second partition?Although, I've never used any of these image programs so I don't know much about their functionality, so I don't know if they create an image of your whole hard drive or just that particular partition.But that's the only idea I can think of.Also, Norton; I know they have some kind of software for this which is ghosting the hard drive/partition to another hard drive/partition called Ghost 2003.If not, I'm sure there is a similar product, somewhere. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted July 15, 2009 Report Share Posted July 15, 2009 You may have a hidden install/recovery partition - your computer's documentation should give you that info.Cloning your original partition to another one will only work if both partitions have the same drive letter (e.g. C:). This can only work if you use a boot manager that hides one partition while booting the other; this way each active partition is always the C: drive. Is boot magic a free program? I only use freeware if I can help it.....if not I may have use windows 7 as they letting people use it free for a year. Thx for your response btw!
