Windows Defender update reminders

Now that I have gotten rid of the AVG update reminders in the Updates forum (because updates are performed automatically, even in the free version), I came to think of the Windows Defender update topic in the same forum.

Windows Defender updates automatically every Tuesday and Friday (or a bit earlier, depending on where you are). I actually don't see any need to post these update reminders, as they are done automatically.

Does anybody actually profit from these postings? If so, in what way?

If not, I will drop it.

P.S. Andsome: we all know that you don't use Windows Defender; there is no need to post a reminder of that fact. Or that it never found anything. :D

See your other thread. I have been trying it out again, and so far it has found NOTHING. Has anyone had any experience of it finding anything? :D

I'm not expecting it to find anything. None of all my anti-malware applications have ever found anything, because I keep my system(s) clean.

So do I. However, most other anti malware programs do find tracking cookies from time to time, something which I am not alone in NOT wanting on my computer. WD never has found any that other programs do turn up. I will peobably discard this program yet again. :D

Tracking cookies are not malware. WD does intentionally not go after cookies.

On the other hand none of my anti-malware applications have ever found any tracking cookies, because I remove them with CCleaner before the automated nightly scans run.

Because Windows Defender updates automatically reminders are superfluous.

I have used it from day one and like others have experienced - it has never found any malware. I too rely on Ccleaner to go after any benign tracking cookies when I do my weekly clean up.

I see no point, as I said in the other thread, in spending money on protection when you can get it for free.
