Application not found

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My setup is Windows vista ultimate, using I.E. 8. Using windows mail whenever I click on a link, any at all, a small window appears saying "application not found" with a bunch of figures. Using google gmail all is O.K. Also various other sites such as any links from the "problems reports and solutions" and many others.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you.

Your description of the problem is rather unclear.

My, probably mistaken, understanding of your question leads me to think your email set up in windows is either incorrect or absent, and thus a link to the email programme is missing.

Thank you for your help, there is an attachment with this response (I hope it is) that should explain all, as you might have guessed, computers is not my no1 job.

please let me know if this attachment is done the correct way. Bye.

Can you use system restore to get back to a date when the programmes were working OK?

If not.....

Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:

"Set your default programs."

After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Internet Explorer". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"

then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

If this does not solve the problem try uninstalling IE8 and reinstalling.

See here for uninstall

See here for IE8 ddownload

Alan Ho,

Yes, your advice to me was spot on, I used the part about opening the control panel and looking at the default programs.

I appreciate your time and knowledge very sincerely.

Thank you. John

This problem is solved, thanks to all.
