bobcrozier
Hi All,I have a problem with re-renaming extensions, that is I inadvertantly renamed some .mpg and .avi files as if they were JPGs. This i did some time ago since when they have been copied to another pc. Both running XP - the donor PC being Professional edition the recipient PC being Home edition. However when I rename these files with their original, correct, extensions they will stil not open. indeed although the extensions are shown correctly as mpg or avi they are all still listed under their property tabs as being file types JPEG!How can I correctly change this so the PC can correctly identify them as being what they areMany Thanks
-pops-
Not certain on this but I think that you would only be able to do corrections on the original altered file and not on any copies/transfers.
AlanHo
Being curious I just changed a .jpg file on my desktop computer to .avi - copied the changed file to a second computer using a memory stick - and changed it back to .jpg on the second computer. It worked Ok - the copy is fully functional.(Both computers are on Windows 7 by the way)
catgate
Could it be in any way connected to "ownership" and "authorisation".
