XP update crashed my PC - Help

Hi all,

Hoping you can help. Yesterday both my PC and laptop were automatically updated by Windows. The PC is fine. The laptop now will not boot up. When it happened, the laptop tried to restart and goes into the mode where you have the options 'safe mode' safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, load from previous configuration' etc). Clicking any of these causes, windows to attempt laoding (e.g. the windows logo and blue bar), then after 30 seconds, it crashes and then restarts all over again.

By clciking F8, I can get into the advanced mode but what do I do now to fix this?

Its a Toshiba laptop running XP (pro - i think)

If I've understood correctly you can't boot this laptop even into safe mode. If so, this indicates a hardware problem, such as a faulty hard disk or RAM. If it's still under warranty, take it back to the supplier. If not find a technician who knows how to check the hardware (unless you can do that yourself).

I think Dencandy has misread your topic. It appears that you can get into safe mode. Can you see an option to boot to last known good configuration, or words to that effect? :D
