Baderup
Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. I get a BSOD with Config_List_Failed Stop: 0x00000073It's my friends computer so I dont know why this has happened.None of the Safe Modes work at all, goes right to the BSOD.I have a bootable virus scan CD, set the CD drive to the first boot sequence and the CD still doesn't boot up. I read a config_list_failed means you don't have enough HDD space possibly?I dont know what to do!
Dencandy
If the computer won't start even using any of the safe modes, this seems to indicate a hardware failure of some sort - hard disk, motherboard, RAM, etc. This requires checking the various components which can be done by a technician. Since the laptop isn't yours, maybe you better tell your friend about the problem.

Baderup
Perhaps THIS will help. :)He told me he had just had his HHD reformatted but it had worked for a couple weeks before he started getting the BSOD. so he has sufficient amount of space left.Do you think it might have anything to do with this Dell Media Direct thing? When the computer starts this is like the first load screen that comes up....then its goes to BS.
Hb_Kai
Windows could have a registry error - could mean it's corrupt but probably isn't. Also, is all your hardware correctly installed and do you have the proper driver updates installed for all your hardware devices? You could even try adding more memory to the PC if need be.What OS are you using and with how much RAM? When the computer starts this is like the first load screen that comes up....then its goes to BS.Media Direct is an application unique to Dell that enables you to view movies etc, without having to load the full Windows operating system. You say your friend had the hard disk reformatted and the problems started a couple of weeks after that. So the entire Dell/Windows operating system must have been re-installed. Maybe that wasn't done correctly. There's a certain procedure that has to be followed for Media Direct described HERE.
