Using Two Keyboards With Different Language Settings with Windows XP P

Hey, may be kind of an easy question, but I was wondering if it is possible to set up two keyboards with different language settings in windows XP pro. I am taking a Greek class and would like to set one keyboard for Greek and the other for English...I know you can change keyboard settings with a hotkey in language settings, but I would like to have two different ones. Thanks.

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

The usual way of using multiple language input is by one single keyboard, using the IME to switch between languages. I have been using this for many years, and it is quite easy to use.

Having multiple keyboards - possibly even with different layouts - may prove more difficult. You may use a hardware keyboard switch, but then you will also need to change the Windows keyboard layout each time you switch.

So for now: do you use a US English and a Greek keyboard?

Yes, Windows, especially with XP and later operating systems, is very versatile at being able to switch from one language and script to another using virtual keyboards as well as real keyboards. It can be a little complex to set up but is done through Date, Time, Language & Regional Options in Control Panel.

Once you've done it you can simply switch from one language to the other from a keyboard shortcut that appears in the taskbar on the desktop.

If you use a seach engine you might well find that someone has already done this for Greek & English and has made the details available on the internet.

When I did a lot of my work in French, I had a keyboard cover (skin) that converted my QWERTY keyboard to AZERTY - after converting the language on the computer, of course.

I don't remember the detail of it but the skin was something like the ones obtainable from http://www.speedskin.com/

Thanks for the welcome! Yep, I use both keyboards (one is an english keyboard with stickers over the letters...cant really see the english letters anymore, lol), but this idea of a cover is intriguing. I will look into it on speed skin (if nothing else, I can get more stickers and put them on the cover). But, I suppose there really isnt much of an option to connect two keyboards with separate languages...dang.

Thanks anyway, and if anyone comes up with a solution, I'll keep checking back.
