I just downloaded my windows 7 installation set up files and i want to install windows 7, but the thing is i don't wan tto do an in upgrade. I want to install windows 7 from scratch. meaning i would like to get rid of vista and all my files and etc. I want to start windows 7 with a clean slate. the problem is. i don't know if this can be done from the desk top or if i had to do this from a boot disk? if i do have to do this from a boot disk how can i do this with the files that are on my desk top? do i put them all on a usb that will fit them? can i burn them onto a dvd?someone please help me and im good with computer, but not with things like this, so thank you very much :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can you tell us what the filename of that download is? I want to do a clean install of windows 7. I do not want to do an updgrade from vista, because i don't want any older files to carry over. I know with past windows you would just pop in the CD and it would boot from the cd/dvd drive and then you could format your drive and install the new windows, but since i have a downloaded file im not sure how i would go about doing this. Would i burn the 3 files on my desktop onto a dvd? if so would i burn it as data or what? or would i have to put the files in a USB drive and boot from there. I don't think anyone is getting what im saying. I need to put these files on a usb drive and boot from the usb so that the computer can format and then install windows 7, but im wondering can i burn them onto a dvd and then just boot from there? and if so do i burn the dvd as data? nothing is wrong with my files.
