Storage disk Freezes Boot

At boot-up the computer draws a lot of power. It could be that the power supply unit isn't sufficiently powerful to supply this initial demand - this could be a sign of imminent failure if it has worked in the past.

more likely is that the computer tries to boot or search for something bootable on the external disk

i recommend you turn the disk off during the booting and switch it back on after booting

this even happens sometimes when you insert an empty cd, or a usb stick, just something you should remember when hooking up external storage :)
