This is giving me a headache......

Here is my general setup. I am running two WD Raptors in RAID0 for my OS. Drives are formatted and I am trying a clean install. I have a bootable DVD for Windows 7. This DVD boots fine and installed perfectly on my laptop. I cannot get my desktop to boot the DVD. Everything in BIOS is setup properly as I have installed XP and Vista as a test just to be sure. So, everything is setup correctly to boot from DVD drive but it just won't boot the disc. I have tried several DVD's and have burned at a slow rate. Again, the disc will boot fine in my laptop. The PC just gets stuck on the spot where it says "Boot from AHCI CD-ROM" . This is where my other bootable DVD's would kick in but this one just stays there.

Any help would be appreciated....

My knowledge of W7 is just less than zero. However, it seems to me, as I read your posting, that you are trying to use the same DVD to install the same OS on two different machines. Now little as know about W7 I know sufficient about M$ to realise they would try to prevent this happening.

Some one else may read your story differently, but I suspect if my reading is correct you are on the losing side.

I have downloaded, burned, and tried to install several versions. 32-bit or 64-bit. It doesn't even boot the DVD. I can load the DVD into my laptop and boot from it. I already installed 7 on the laptop and it will still boot from any of the discs I've been trying. It's like my desktop doesn't see a bootable disc there even though it is.

I presume you have tried some other non-OS bootable disc in your machine to see if it boot with that.....like a music CD.

No music but I have tried my XP SP2 disc which is a burned CD and that works fine. My Vista DVD works fine. My Win7 DVD only works though in the laptop. Just a reminder, I have tried several different Win7 dvds and its the same story. I am usually very good with installations and anything else with PCs. This one has me stumped.

Do you ever get to a splash screen, as one computer I installed W7 on, I had to wait for about 5 minutes to get to the start screen, then it installed with no trouble.

Nope. it sits therethe same as if I had no disc in there at all. Note: the brand and method of burning my win 7 is the same as I did with my vista DVD and it works fine.

My headache is getting worse.....

I have since tried loading this OS DVD on several other computers and have NOT had any problems. The only possibility I can think of is the optical drive is bad. I know the drive will boot other DVDs but maybe it has a problem booting this ISO. I will try another drive when I locate one and I will advise....thanks for the help
