Moving Windows hard drive to external enclosure

Recommended Posts

So here's the deal. I have a hard drive in my laptop that has Windows 7 on it. I also have an external (2.5") hard drive that I have Ubuntu installed on (and bootable). The thing is, I'm doing a school project that I require linux for and during this time I'm in Ubuntu more than Windows. Basically, I tried to swap the hard drives (Ubuntu internal, and Windows booting from external). Ubuntu I managed to get booting fine, but windows is giving me 0x7b (Inaccessible boot device). I've even tried replacing the HD controller drivers with the standard drivers but to no avail. Is there anything I can do to get my Windows to boot from the external? Sorry if things seem vague...just ask and I'll try to clarify. Also sorry for talking about Linux :-P
