"Favorites" AND "Bookmark"...

WinXP home; IE6; OE6 Hello, I don't know how but when I finished backing up what I thought was my "Favorites" into "My Documents", I see that I have 2 Folders called: "Adela's Bookmarks" with 57KB of files, and also "Favorites" with only 13KB of files. But when I go to see my actual Favorites in my IE browser...the files seem different from those 2 other folders. If I haven't confused you, would you happen to know what happened? And how to simplify this trio into only one Folder? Thanks so much for any suggestions. :) Adela

I'm sorry I dont' know how to make the paragraphs, etc. (???)

TweakUI has a section to modify the location of your favorites folder.

Just load the program, drill down to the favorites section, and tell it where to look for your favorites. In your case, the 'Adela's Bookmarks' folder. You can then copy any files from the other two folders into this one to have them stored in one place.

It's hard to say how this happened in the first place. Likely you may have moved something without knowing it.

Some programs, and even some websites, have their own bookmarks files which they sometimes install automatically, often without telling the user. They can also be a form of spyware. The file called Adela's Bookmarks is possibly one of these. Have you looked at it & examined what is listed there? If you don't recognise the content, you can probably safely delete it. Since you only have IE installed, the genuine favourites will always be called just that - "Favorites" (USA spelling).

After a while, check to see if Adela's Bookmarks has come back again. If it has, you will need to investigate to see which program is re-installing it.

By the way, Adela, to type text on this forum, just use normal typing techniques, e.g. Enter for a new para, space bar for a space, etc. Don't try using Tab though as it does funny things.

Thanks for the program Scarecrow! I will use it to try combining all the names into the Favorites because I think the Bookmarks is the "intruder" lol! Adela

Hello Dencandy and thank you. You're right that I'll have to look at the Bookmarks names more closely, delete the ones I don't recognize and also the duplicates, and the rest I could possibly transfer to the Favorites, and delete the Bookmarks altogether.

The reason I had mentioned I didn't know how to separate the paragraphs, etc. was that when I typed my first post here, it was all bunched up, ignoring my line spaces, etc. But it might've been a passing glitch... :)

Thanks again! Adela
