AlanHo Posted November 21, 2009 Report Share Posted November 21, 2009 I installed Windows 7 Home Premium using the 64 bit installation disc on my computer which has an Intel Q9650 cpu and 8 Gb of DDR2 1066 RAM.However - opening Control Panel > System the information shows that I have 8 GB RAM installed (3.25 usable)32 bit operating systemHow can that be - I definitely used the 64 bit Windows 7 installation disc (latest retail version). eyeCpc Posted January 2, 2010 Report Share Posted January 2, 2010 One way to see if you have the 64bit 7 installed and you either didn't mistakenly install with the 32bit disk or they were not mislabeled by the manufacturer who pressed them for Microsoft is to go into the Control Panel>System and look at the general system information displayed there. This shows the operating system as well as the type either being the 32bit or 64bit Windows.That's the first step to take there. Another problem that can come up is having all dimm slots populated on some boards were the board's own bios places a limitation on things leaving so much memory mapped out to hardwares despited running a 64bit OS.
