TFC
I own a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium which was installed on my present computer.I subsequently installed Windows 7 RC and most recently the commercial Windows 7 Professional.I built a rig for my son. On attempted installation of Windows Vista it states the activation code has already been utilized.Since this copy of Vista is not installed on any other machine is there a way to allow activation on this new computer? Thanks
-pops-
If you bought the copy of Vista as a standalone full version (not OEM or pre-installed) than you should be able to activate it if you contact Microsoft. Normally, with a full version, contact details are on-screen with the message about prior activation. If the O/S was OEM or pre-installed on the machine then it is tied to that original computer and you cannot legally swap it over. Panarchy
I'd recommend using the automated phone system, sometimes you'll get away with it.
