SuchtFaktor
hi, nice to be here.i have a quite urgent problem to solve.i bought new computer parts and the new assembled computer crashes all the time.heres the configuration in short:CPU Intel E6300RAM Kingston 4GBMainboard Asus P5Q SE PLUSHDD WD 640GBGraphicscard Gainward G210 (Nvidia)OS Windows 7 64bitin the beginning the computer ran really well. windows 7 found all driver on it's own. everything was good.a couple of days later the computer crashed (just like a reset) for the first time and tried to find driver for a drive a: that obviously doesn't exist.i don't know how to discribe how chaotic the system behaves.for example windows right now, has for all links the same icon and trys to start the same application. in other words windows 7 is not usable.i suggest it is only a symptome for the crashes but i'm totally desperate. the system became totally unpredictable.never had this problem before with a new system. and it's not even my first system with windows 7. Except that it's 64bit.there are no specific applications that cause the crashes. even in idle mode the computer crashes and restarts.the time is always different. sometimes the computer runs for hours sometimes for 15minutes.temperatur is checked and seems to be ok.so i am asking anybody,(1) is it possible to install something to 64bit windows 7 to make it that unstable? just installed minimum windows applications (5 things or so) and the only extra driver is my hp printer.(2) what peace of hardware could be the root of evil? any suggestions how to find it. i have no parts to replace them except the harddrive. so it will not be easy.pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase help
Boris
What error messages are you getting ?Have you looked in Event Viewer ?Do you have any anti-virus installed on this ?

Boris
Windows Event Viewer is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.Type in Event Viewer in the search box Read this for instructions/info :-http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/windows-xp-...iewer-tutorial/
SuchtFaktor
ok, i checked the event manager.but i can not find anything that explain the problems i have.just the critical error when the system crashed and i had to power down.but it doesn't say why just says here happened something.so nothing really helpful from the event manager.and to make it worse the problems i had are gone and i changed nothing.this may sound strange. but how can i trust a system that is behaving totally freaked out and then turns into a grad a student.i don't get it and i think the problems will come back when i really don't need them.so no solution so far for me. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If your system crashes, then there will be an entry in the event log, and you can find it with the Event Viewer (check all tabs, and look for the time when the crash occurred). Open the item, and you should see at least an error code, and hopefully the module name that caused it.To look for unknown devices you can use DriverMax (use the free version that allows up to two driver downloads per day). -pops-
How many sticks of memory are there installed?Try removing all but the minimum necessary for the machine to operate. Is this better or worse? If better, swap that stick for another and so on until all have been tested.
SuchtFaktor
of course there are event entries.and as many as i had crashes.but these critical entries just say the system was turned off unexpected. event id is always 41.i use 2 sticks of memory.if the problem comes back i will remove one of them. catgate
i bought new computer partsDid this include a new PSU ?And if it did was it big enough?
SuchtFaktor
the psu issue came to my mind but it is definitely enough.the cpu has a low energy consumption and the graphicscard is the smallest you can buy.my energy monitor at the power plug tells me around 85Watt energy consumption.during idle under 70.the psu 350Watt.
