megiston
Hello, I have the new Windows 7 home premium on a HP desktop. When I click "shutdown" when finishing for the day, after a few seconds the screen changes to a dark screen with the message that there still is a program running with the options of 1/ force a shutdown or cancel. This happens every time. I have checked the Task Manager before shutting down with the result that no programs are running.Does anybody have any ideas ? Thank you. AlanHo
My Win7 computer does that because I have a back-up program that runs on shut down. However, Windows gives the name of the program that is delaying shut down and waits for it to finish taking the back up before shutting down normally. If I click on "Force shut down" the back up is not done. There are times when I forget to close Outlook or Word etc before hitting the shut down button - Windows then lists the guilty program(s) on the black screen as well as my back up program.Do you not see the name of the program that is delaying the shut down...? megiston
Mr Ho, Thank you for your response, next time when I shutdown I'll keep a lookout if there is an offending program ( there isn't a lot of time to see what is happening ). I'll let you know. Ciao.
-pops-
Normally, as was said, the programs delaying the shutdown are listed on the dark screen. Windows Explorer is normally the last to close with the message that the closing sound is about to play - shutdown then proceeds as normal. All the copies of W7 that I have installed have behaved in the same way.Best not to worry about it. andsome
Just occasionally I see something flash into the screen, too brief to make out. It doesn't seem to matter. I have noticed too that 7 does not like you closing down with programs still running, but it never causes any bother, they just close themselves. :D I like
