Weird Wi-fi behavior

My Wi-fi receiver has been having some issues over last few days and today it stopped receiving internet. Windows said "Limited internet access"

I tried on my second computer if the router was fine and it was, I connected normally. I decided to unplug the wi-fi receiver and plug it into a different USB on my MOBO. Suddenly everything was back to normal. How is that possible? What could have gone wrong in my system?

Is that original USB socket dead or faulty to anything else you plug in?

These connectors very easily develop faults, physical from excessive plugging in/unplugging or movement when plugged in and electrical/electronic from overloads etc. It doesn't take much to overload a USB point and a quite tiny surge through your telephonic equipment may easily do it.

On the other hand, if the socket is OK, try it again with the receiver. It may have been an intermittent connection which may well now be cured.

I tried the USB socket using a different usb hardware and it worked normally. I tend to unplug the wifi receiver quite often and reconnect it again so I guess that might have cause it. When I think about it, I can cease to do that and just leave at the back of the computer since until now I had the receiver lying on my desk connected with a cable.

By the way can the receiver emit any "wifi radiation" when computer is turned off, I would like to prevent such thing

Is a wifi router in a room where people use to be a lot dangerous in terms of wave emissions?
