DrStupid Posted December 17, 2009 Report Share Posted December 17, 2009 Hey,So as the title said, I've got a memory leak. Before a couple of days ago I had no idea what they were. But this problems only happened recently though I can't think of anything that would have caused it. I've tried what I can to repair it from doing a system restore twice, re-installing programs (Firefox), checking memory performance, paying for a copy of RegCure (which has helped a little).Trouble is I keep getting the leaks no mattr what I try and I'm out of ideas. Most of the solutions I've found online say to end the process with the leak. Not exactly useful if its "explorer", "services" or "firefox". The problem isn't just related to firefox. Other programs would randomly have this leak until I forced it to quit (DAOR, Firefox, Explorer, Services, SVCHost). Now that I've repaired my registry problems the only affected service still seems to be firefox. I downgraded to version 2 and cleared all of my temps files, my bookmarks etc but its still happening as we speak Firefox is taking about 79mb of memory but earlier, it was pushing near enough 1gb (I do however have a large amount of HD space set for Page File usage).If there's any advice or solutions you can give, it'll be greatly appreciated.Cheers! ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted December 18, 2009 Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 You, as a user, cannot "fix" memory leaks; this can only be done by the people who write the leaking applications.But you also shouldn't be too concerned about memory leaks; most of this unused memory space gets paged out, and can safely be ignored. The only problem, e.g. with Firefox and all its unused memory space, is that it can take quite a while to release all that memory when you close Firefox.
