Installing USB phone

Try the phone manufacturers website to find W7 drivers.

It could be there aren't any. I discovered that an old Tesco Internet phone would not update to W7 and there was no intention to update it.

Good morning

Just trying to get a USB phone to work with skype. The CD that comes with the phone is desighned for XP. And it did work fine on the computer running XP. But although it does install on Windows 7 it wont detect the phone.

Try installing it in XP Compatibility Mode Ruthy. I've got quite a few things working that way. :)

Right click on app/driver to be installed. Choose: Properties. Then the "Compatibility" tab. XP from the dropdown box. Put a tick in the box, and install.

Hi

It didn’t work in XP mode. But someone else pointed me to the manufacturer’s site which had drivers for Vista. So I had to run the phone program in compatibility mode as well as Skype. If it’s just the phone in compatibility mode then it still didn’t work.

Thank you for trying to help

Hi Bustor,

Luckily with Windows 7 that analogy is a bit flawed, unlike Vista which could be a bit of a swine at times.

The majority of software and hardware designed to run with Windows XP will run perfectly well with Windows 7.

Lack of Updating drivers by manufacturers is one of the biggest problems.

If you install as below. Most times, all will kick in and work. It is worth experimenting a bit before dismissing old software/hardware.
