MANEMAN
Hi There, Welcome.Try getting into "Safe Mode" (Pressing F8 as it starts to boot.) and see if you can get to the root of the problem from there. If you are still getting nowhere, dont waste too much more time.Either try to do a **Windows XP Repair Install** Or...................Download an HDD manufacturers install / diagnostic disk, burn to CD, place in your optical drive. Boot from the newly burnt disk, format the laptop hard disk and reload Windows. Some useful links./>http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/>http://www.maxtor.com/home-en-us.html/>http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=7&lang=en/>http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm/>http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287John. -pops-
Have you replaced the keyboard or just connected another one via one of the external ports? If the latter then the original keyboard may well be still having an influence on the behaviour of the machine, especially in a fault condition.
