I like to have www.mysite.com to point to my home windows XP machine. can some one tell me how do i go about doing that?

Could you clarify that? Is 'mysite.com' your website? And how do you want it to "point" to your machine?

actually, I want to run mysite.com from my machine. I want to know how do I get about doing that?

Is your IP static ?

If you purchased a domain name you should be able to set the DNS to point to your IP through whoever you purchased it from.
