Member24
Hi,I am using Intel Core 2 duo processor. My question is, whenever i run my application i would like to know whether my software is using both the processors or a single processor. How do i know it? Is there any way to see that? If it is using single processor, how to make use of both the processors? Please help me out. I need this to improve my software performance...Thanks in Advance!! -pops-
In Windows 7 (and possibly Vista) there is a sidebar gadget which gives a graphic of the CPU and RAM use at any one time. I don't think that XP can utilise dual core processors successfully if that is the O/S you are using (according to your profile). For information in W7, I note that for most operations in my laptop both cores operate in tandem. Sometimes, one core is much busier than the other. The behaviour is governed by the machine itself and it is best left alone.
Member24
Hi pops,Thanks for the information. I am using XP. I strongly believe that there could be a way to manage and monitor processors. Anyone! Any suggestions? Help me please..!!
rong
Why would you want to manage them??? if you need more than one to be working then it will do so automaticly, or that is my understanding

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If a software is multi-threaded, then it will automatically use multiple available processors. If you use multiple softwares simultaneously, they will use multiple processors. Member24
Is there any way to see that the both the processors are being used?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
What does the Task Manager show you?If nothing, there are dozens of free processor usage monitoring programs available on the Internet; use Google.

Member24
Thanks for your suggestions. If both the cores are being used in dual core processor, how do i run my software in single core only instead of using both the cores??
