What is "too long" - 3 minutes, 5 minutes?

Clearing the Prefetch cache makes Windows startup slower.

Having many large objects on the Desktop makes Windows load slowly.

Unnecessary startup items (see previous post) makes startup slow.

Badly fragmented HD will make everything slower.

How use this utility to speed startup?

HOW TO USE

1. Start the program from your Desktop or Start Menu>Programs>Windows Startup Inspector

2. Once the program has started it loads programs in your windows' startup list automatically.

3. Press Consult button.

This feature requires an Internet connection, make sure you have Internet access and allow this program to pass your firewall.

4. Once Consultation process has completed comments appear beside each program, and at the bottom of the screen it shows information on each clicked program.

5. Go through each program, check if it is required by its rating.

Rating 1 - definitely not welcome, remove it, could be spyware, adware or even viruses.

Rating 2 - not required programs, they are not worth running on startup.

Rating 3 - programs providing certain feature, but if you don't use it or rarely use it, why not remove it and you can always start it manually.

Rating 4 - usually system programs, you should leave them alone.

6. To remove programs from startup list, just Uncheck the program, - click the square box in front of each program.

7. Now finish by pressinf the Apply button.

8. Exit Windows Startup Inspector and Restart windows.

NOTE: you may need Borland Runtime Files

The runtime files can be unziped into your windowssystem directory or they can be placed in the same directory as the program. (~ 300Kb)

Install Start up inspector.:)

HERE!

In my case Start Up Inspector is virtually useless.

It shows 9 start up programs and offers valid information on only 2 of them. My comments are in red.

Icon restore - Sorry no information found (this program saves a copy of your desktop icon layout to enable you to restore your desktop)

Shall Folder Fix - Sorry no information found (this program retains the layout of desktop folders - without it if you change a folder in Windows explorer - all others change)

Unlocker - Sorry no information found (this program unlocks inaccessible files in Explorer and allows you to move or delete them)

Epson Stylus SX200 - Sorry no information found (the software that shows a printing monitor and ink levels as you print)

SWG - Google toolbar notifier. Disabling down to user preference. (why does it not tell you what happens if you disable it)

Sidebar - Windows desktop sidebar - still in beta (this is part of Windows 7 and is not in Beta)

True Image Monitor - Part of Acronis. I wish I knew exactly what TIM does and if it is necessary (hardly useful information is it?)

Second Copy - Program to duplicate any directory or drive to another drive (at last - it gets one right)

MSTAG - Allows you to send tagged mail and be notified when it is opened by the recipient (another correct description)

I have now uninstalled it and confined this useless program to the bin.
