jchase520
I just installed win xp on my pc, the PC has a Abit IP-95 mother board , I didn't have the disc with it so I downloaded the driver here />http://www.abit.com.tw/page/uk/download/download_driver_detail.php?pFILE_TYPE=Driver&pMAIN_TYPE=Motherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=IP-95&pSOCKET_TYPE=LGA775It installed fine , but when I went to listen to my music , there was only sound in one head phone. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Nevermind Catgate's jokes...Have you checked the Balance settings in the Control Panel's Sound applet?
jchase520
yes I have and everythuing is centered, and when I tried to pan everything to the other side, I got no sound at all. So it's not from that setting
-pops-
This may seem obvious but, have you checked that the headphones/speaker plug is fully pushed home? Have you tried a different set of headphones?
jchase520
Actually yea, I got 5 different set of head phones and they all had the same problem. Also , they are plugged in all the way, but weirdly, when I pull the jack out to the middle it has sound in botuh ears, but its phased and seems to be missing alot of different levels and it sounds like crap. -pops-
I think the effect you are getting with the jack half pulled out is that the one signal is being shorted to both earpieces so my thoughts haven't moved things on, sorry.I notice that the link in your post gives drivers for 64 bit - is this the one you wanted? jchase520
nah that driver is 32 and 64 bit

MANEMAN
Do you also have speakers connected to this computer ?If so, - is the sound only coming out of one speaker, or is it just the headphones that you are having trouble with ?Was all well with this computer before installing Windows XP ?Is the headphone socket a seperate item compared to where you would usually plug speakers in ?If you have no external speakers can you try to borrow some and post the results ?At times headphone jack-sockets will go faulty. Before considering replacement, try squirting just a (small amount) of WD40 into the socket and pulling the headphone jack in and out several times. It is important to diagnose whether this is a software or hardware fault. Replacing a jack-socket (hardware) on a modern double sided printed circuit board is best avoided for the amateur.John.
jchase520
Theres no speakers, theres only one spot for output and thats what my headphones have been using. Well I just built this PC as a replacement for my other one ( my mobo died) , I had the parts laying around , but last time I used this mother board it worked fine, BUT , at that time I had the CD that came with it, which I don't have any more . So like I said I had to download the AC 97 driver.
MANEMAN
Fine. Thanks for the quick reply. So ? - Which way are you starting to diagnose this ? As a software or hardware fault ?Identify your present Motherboard and try to download all of the correct drivers for that particular board. You must diagnose whether hardware or software is at fault here to save yourself a lot of time.Could it be that the Mobo was stored and you have a crack in the printed circuit in the vicinity of the sound output (Jack-Socket) ? Or as I have suggested that the Jack-socket itself is faulty ?John.
jchase520
Ok thanks! I never installed all the mother board drivers Just the audio one , so I'll install em all and see if that helps .I never inspected anything on the board beside the lga 775 socket , so I'll look at it later today and see if its damaged any where. :D
