AlanHo Posted August 10, 2010 Report Share Posted August 10, 2010 Has this happened to you?Yesterday, I needed to register with a particular web site.As you do - I entered the necessary personal details, preferred personal name and finished up by entering my chosen password in duplicate.The site responded with a message that the user name was already taken and offered me a list of close suggestions. I chose one and then found that I had to re-enter all my personal data - plus my preferred password in duplicate. I entered a 6 digit number.Another error meesage appeared stating that the password had to be a minimum of 8 digit. Yet again I had to enter my personal data and entered a new password having an 8 digit number.You guessed it - another error message appeared - the password had to be a mix of numerals and letters.Undaunted - and now on a crusade - I went through the procedure all over again and entered a password containing 4 numerals and 4 letters. Surely this has got to be accepted.No - the next error message said the password had to contain upper and lower case letters.So I did it all over again - making the first letter of the chosen password a capital.Success at last.Why the hell didn't they state on the original subscribing page that the password had to have a minimum of 8 digits, with a mixture of letters and numerals, and at least one letter in capitals.Simples................. It's not so much that they don't tell you the requirements in advance, but the idiocy of losing all your inputed data and have you retype it all again! (And again...)
