clean reinstall - no way

Forgive me for being so crass, but you didn't have any qualms about removing this software protection service from your machine or turning off other protective service(s).

If you do not subscribe to backing up you precious data before fiddlin' around, then you can expect disastrous results eventually.

I'm not really sure what else I can suggest.

Maybe another member can shed some additional light on this.

Hi there.

I haven't had a lot of time to read through your whole sad story, but from what I can gather you have messed up something in "Services".

No sweat "nerfpl".

Just go to this site : http://serviceseditor.com/ and you will be able to set all of your services back to default.

Problem solved. :) - End of story ? :)

-That is if it is "Services" that you are talking about, and you haven't frigged the whole of the operating system up messin' around.

Now is the time (After the problem is sorted) to get yourself fixed up with some "Disk Imaging" software. ( Acronis or Macrium Free.)

What you have been messin' about with for the last Five days could have been solved in about 20 minutes if you had a good disk image to restore from.

But just for now..............................

Firstly: Restore "Services" to default.

If that doesn't fix things you have probably gone, - "One step too far within the boundaries of your expertise."

Come back and tell us how things are going for you after setting back to default.

John.

(Stage left: finds MANEMAN furiously flicking through pages of Swahili to English dictionary to decode the latest post.)

MANEMANE enters stage:

Bludgard says: "Well done indeed,MANEMAN."

Maneman says: " 'Tis nothing dear bludgard" "The burden of brilliance was thrust upon me at an early age".

Maneman relaxes to the stage floor with a spliff.

The curtain falls. Audience give a standing ovation.

"Nerfpl"

Please forgive our little bit of "Insider Humour" in your thread.

It is such madness that keeps us sane. :P

I would think from your latest post that you are asking how you can implement "Disk Imaging" into your computing experience.

There is no great difficulty in doing this, although a little bit of research and reading would probably serve you better than any explanation you would get here.

This ** Link ** is a good opener into the world of Macrium & Acronis.

The explanation at **Wikipedia** will start you on your journey.

Once read and understood, please return here for any help that you may need.

John.

My apologies to Nerfpl as well for hijacking the thread. :hi:
