kennytung Posted August 28, 2010 Report Share Posted August 28, 2010 Recently, I just built a new computer system with the following specs:_i7 930_Gigabyte X58A-UD3R_3x2GB ADATA RAM_Gigabyte 460GTXI connected my old speakers (SoundMax 5.1) to the new computer with all the required drivers installed from the bundled driver disks. However, as far as I have seen, I CAN ONLY HEAR the sound when playing games, watching .mkv movies using KLite Codec (I also can hear the "bell" sound when using Windows Sound Control to test each speaker). BUT I CANNOT HEAR: the system sound (bootup sound, shutdown, error, notify....), sound of the flash application running on webs (mp3 player, clips, webgames...), sound of the .avi movie playing by either KLite Codec or Windows Media Player.I tried reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit/32bit and still the same. I also tried the drivers taken from Realtek website/Gigabyte website but also the same result.Can anyone help me with this :(( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bludgard Posted August 29, 2010 Report Share Posted August 29, 2010 Hi,kennytung.For sound:I'm sure you have tried the basics:--->Start whatever application that you have issues with>click on speaker icon in task tray>select Mixer>check that there are no disabled signs at the bottom of each column.Click on each icon at the top of each column and go through each tab selecting your preferred settings.For video:.AVI files play perfectly well on native software in Windows 7 without any additional codecs.I would especially think this to be true on a clean-install.Maybe there is a compatibility issue with the codec pack installed?Welcome to Windows Forum.Please keep us updated.
