Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help. I ordered a Vista recovery disc from Recovery-Disk.com, before I knew I could do this from HP. They sent me two discs, one labeled disc 1 and the other disc 2. THere is no setup feature on the disc, only files. This is what disc 1 looks like.

boo.mgr mgr file

SOURCES file folder

preload file folder

HP file folder

BOOT file folder

Does this mean anything to anyone. When I try to open them is goes to the web to find something to open with. Please Help

I've just checked Recovery-Disk and seen that the domain name is for sale - i.e. no company exists under that moniker.

Most computer manufacturer's recovery disks are just that - they contain the means of recovering the operating system from hidden files on the hard drive in the computer. These recovery disks are specific to the computer model and not interchangeable between brands.

Under the circumstances, assuming that there is no reasonable response from Recovery-Disk, would be to cut your losses and obtain (buy or borrow) an HP specific recovery disk.

Have you tried cleaning and reformatting with DISKPART command before a fresh installation? It gives the OS a "sterile" environment in which to bounce around in.:vibrate:

You may get more responses if you were to start your own thread on this topic.
