Agent Smith
sahil80, I am going to proceed with caution here. As you must appreciate, giving advice as to how to break into a private folder on a computer, is not the sort of thing I can condone on this forum. I will give some basic advice, which anybody who has administrator rights on the machine should be able to do anyway, then I will lock this thread. If you still cannot get to your files, you will need to send me a PM (click on the button at the bottom of this post), and if you can convince me you are genuine, I will assist further.Right, log onto the machine as an administrator, and right click on the affected directory and select the security tab. You should be able to set the rights to allow the administrator to access the directory. Ensure you check the "allow inheritable rights" box.Alternately, here is an article from M$ about this problem M$ KB823306If that fails, create a new user with the same name as your old XP account, and login as that user.If these fail, as I say, PM me with further information and I will decide whether to tell you how to get into the folder.Good luck. Regards. Mr. Mouse.
