Partition removal

Being, now highly chuffed with my 10 month old PC, I've decided to start re-cycling my old PC. I've decided to remove the HDD's and use them for archiving and have just got a USB HDD caddy. Noe the bigger HDD has 2 partitions on it of 100 and 200 Gb each. Been looking at Win 7 disc management and can't see how to merge these into one partition and do a complete format. Any help please?

Should add that I do have a completely separate USB HDD for backups.

This is from memory - I don't have a disc with more than one partition to play with

Click on Start Orb

Type "disc management" (no asterisks)

Click on "Create and format hard disc partitions"

A window will open showing all your discs and partitions.

Right click on the partition to want to delete

Click on Delete Volume

It will now delete the partition and convert it into unallocated space.

Now right click on the partition you left installed

Click on "Extend Volume"

You want to select the maximum figure shown to extend the existing partition in order to absorb all the unallocated space.

Right click on the 196.70 partition then select Extend Volume.

A couple more self evident clicks and it will gobble up the unallocated space to form one large partition.

Right click again - and select format.

Done and dusted.

Best of luck - this is all from memory which aint in prime condition.
