Which windows XP service pack?

?? If Windows will not boot it doesn't seem to be of much importance which service pack is installed

I'm getting an error "SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE" and the system

tries to boot in a continuous loop. I was going to replace the corrupted

files through recovery console using an install disk. But I have been advised

when doing this that it will be necessary to have the right version\service pack

of XP or one can run into problems doing the repair. Problem is I don't know

which service pack is actually installed on the system. So I need to find

out which SP is installed so that I can proceeded with repairing the damaged

files. I know how to obtain this info through the windows desktop, but since

the system doesn't completely boot that method is obviously out of the question. So

I need to find out if there is a way I can obtain the info without booting

into windows.

Thanks
